Ames Christian School and ACSI

Ames Christian School (ACS) is a member of the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI) and offers an academic program including Art, Music, Computer Lab Instruction, and Physical Education for grades K-8. ACS teachers are certified by the State of Iowa and/or ACSI. The facility is complete with a library, lunchroom, diverse classrooms, science lab, computer lab, administrative offices and a chapel. We continue to grow each year in our understanding of the integration of faith and learning. Our desire is for our students to grow in faith and knowledge through a wide variety of learning experiences. ACS was started in 1992 and currently all classes meet in our facility at 925 South 16th Street.

The school is an incorporation of the Ames Christian School Association (ACSA), a group of Christian parents, grandparents and friends, with representation from several Ames area churches on the 7 member ACS Board. Ames Christian School (ACS) is a multi-denominational Christian school ministering to children and their families in the Ames area.

Curriculum

Our curriculum includes materials from a variety of publishers including ABeka, CSI, ACSI, Houghton Mifflin, Nystrom, Ginn, McGraw-Hill, and Zaner-Bloser. Regardless of the text used, our Christian teachers teach each subject from a Biblical perspective.

Faculty and Staff

Faculty and staff are carefully screened and selected for their spiritual maturity and professional excellence. Their dedication provides ACS students with academic success within a quality, Christ-centered school. The faculty and staff strive to provide an education for children with an emphasis of "Excellence in Education Through Christ" in order to assist parents in educating the whole child.

Home school program

Area homeschooled children are encouraged to join our homeschool program which allows them to participate in ACS classes and field trips. All classes are open to homeschool families: academic subjects, physical education, art, and music. Homeschoolers are also invited to participate in our annual standardized testing program. Check with the administrator for details on service fees.

Standardized Testing Averages

Ames Christian School students score well on standardized tests. Our students take the ITBS (Iowa Test of Basic Skills) test each year. Our students' averages have consistently been above the state of Iowa averages in each of the grades. A comparison of our students' ITBS averages to the national averages show an even greater advantage.
