Early Kindergarten

The Early Kindergarten program is a full day, five days a week, skill-building program designed to prepare children for positive future school experiences.  Children who will benefit from this program are five years old but may need another year to grow and mature before being ready for our Academic Kindergarten curriculum and routine.  The Early Kindergarten program offers hands on curriculum that meets various skill levels for students.  The small class size provides a Personalized Christian Education for each child.  This program also includes classses in music, physical education, art, and chapel.  After completing a year in Early Kindergarten the child will be prepared to enter our Academic Kindergarten.  In order to qualify for this program the child needs to be five years old by September 15 or turn five close to that date.  Each child must also take a developmental readiness test administered by the academic Kindergarten teacher.

Miss Petrie’s Post

Hello! This week, we have been learning all about the letter T! From tadpoles to turtles, we have talked about many things in our world that begin with the letter T. We have practiced coloring, cutting, and sponge painting! Also, every day we have been reading the book The Teeny Weeny Tadpole by Sheridan Cain. On the second and third time hearing it, the students were asked to listen for the word ‘teeny.’ Then we listened for the word ‘tadpole.’ When they heard that word, they were to snap their fingers twice. The students also helped me retell the story in their own words.

Coming up next week:

We will be learning all about the letter L! Some of our crafts will include stencils, cutting, pasting, and coloring.

Reminders:

*Scholastic Order Forms – I sent these home this week in your child’s Friday Folder. I gave you a sheet at Parent Orientation about how to set up a username and password to be able to pay online. If you would still like to pay by check, that is also acceptable. These order forms are due on Friday September 17.

*Please remember that every Tuesday the girls will have sharing (show and tell). On every Thursday the boys will have sharing. During this time, the students will bring in something from home that begins with the letter of the week. Next week the letter is T! Be creative and have fun!

*Every Wednesday we dismiss school at 2:00pm! Do not forget! J

*Please have your nametags in your passenger window so that the teacher on dismissal duty knows which students to dismiss. Also, please make sure not to park in the drive-thru in front of the school. If you need to come inside for any reason, please go to the parking lot and then come inside. Thank you!
