Week of January 5, 2009

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.  I hope and pray that each one of you experienced the joy that Christmas brings to all who trust in the Lord, Jesus Christ.  May we all carry this joy into the new year that we've been blessed with.  This year, like all others, will be filled with times of great joy, disappointment, challenge, and hope.  Blessings to each one of you in this new year.

I know that each of the students was very disappointed not to be able to have their class party.  As a staff we will be talking this week about some form of a winter party...Stay tuned for details as they are known.

Science 7/8

Monday 5:  Before break we learned how snow storms are formed and how snowflakes are made.  We will review that concept, then make some snowflakes.  We will also start a science experiment using a plant.
Additional time will be used for cleaning up the room from Christmas.

Tuesday 6: We are ready to start our next chapter.  We will cover some parts of this chapter in more depth than others.  I will also be supplementing other resources to help build depth of understanding of weathering and erosion.

ASSIGNMENT: Read pg 86-90 and hand-out.  Answer questions pg 90.

Wednesday 7: Today we will go over the questions on pg 90 and then learn about chemical weathering.

Thursday 8:We will briefly look at the factors of weathering, but will focus our attention today on erosion.  Students will be responsible for teaching each other about different kinds of erosion.

Friday 9:  Yet unplanned...I tend to over plan after break and I'm not sure when class parties will be rescheduled, so check student planners for possible homework.

Math

*assume all math assignments are due the next day unless otherwise stated.

Wednesday 7

  • 7th:  Yesterday's assignment will be corrected and all problems must be fixed.  We will also take time today to review how to find angles of a triangle as these continue to be problems regularly missed on assignments

    ASSIGNMENT:  PS 50 (pg 50) a-c. 1-6,8,15-20

Friday 9

  • 7th: Lesson 44 teaches students to divide decimals that have remainders, but write them as fractional answers.
    ASSIGNMENT: PS 44 (pg 269) a-e, 1-5,8,24-30
